Maren Alchikh is a PhD Student at the Université Bourgogne Franche-Comté, France, since 2019.
Prior to completing medical school in Berlin, Germany, Maren have been working as a pediatric nurse for many years. In 2018, Maren entered postgraduate training as a paediatric resident at the Bad Saarow Hospital in Frankfurt/Oder, Germany. Her main interests are the hospital-based surveillance of acute infectious diseases in children and novel approaches to improving quality of care and vaccine protection. Maren is a coordinator in the SEKI project ‘Strengthening Education and Knowledge on Immunisation’ co-organised by the Vienna Vaccine Safety initiative and the European Academy of Paediatrics, hoping to make it easier for practicing paediatricians to become leaders in vaccine communication. For her doctoral thesis, Maren evaluates different diagnostic platforms for the clinical surveillance of respiratory viral infections in children.
